Please join us Sunday, September 15 from 1:00-5:00pm for the annual Apprenticeship Showcase at the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, 145 Ednam Drive in Charlottesville, located off 250 West in the Boar’s Head Inn complex. This free festival will feature some of the finest musicians, dancers, singers, and craftspeople in the state. We will have quarts of delicious Brunswick Stew made on site for sale for $5, in addition to fried apple pies and fresh shucked oysters.

1:00 Loose Strings: Bluegrass band from Galax featuring banjo apprentice Ashley Nale

1:30 Opening remarks by Jon Lohman, Director of the Virginia Folklife Program; Presentation of certificates to the 2012-2013 masters and apprentices

2:00 Blues with Gaye Adegbalola and Lorie Strother

2:15 Sephardic Ballads with Aviva Chernick

2:30 Old Time Banjo with Jimmy Boyd and friends

2:45 Chickahominy Dance with Jessica Stewart and Vanessa Adkins

3:00 Recognition of Crafters

3:30 Old Time Showcase with Chris and Erika Testerman, Jackson Cunningham, and special guests

3:45 Flatpick Guitar with Wayne Henderson and Helen White

4:00 Oyster Shucking Contest with Deborah Pratt and Clementine Macon

4:15 Bluegrass Fiddling with Buddy Pendleton, Aila Wildman, and friends

4:30 Instrument Contest Emceed by Harold Mitchell and Dale Morris

4:45 Gospel with Family of Praise Choir from Richmond, Virginia
