Catch Virginia Folklife this summer and fall at these great festivals.
- April 29-May 2: MerleFest, Wilkesboro, NC.
- May 29: Gathering in the Gap, Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
- June 19: Wayne C. Henderson Festival and Guitar Competition, Grayson County, Virginia.
- July 9-11: National Folk Festival, Butte, Montana: presenting Virginia artists, including the Whitetop Mountain Band from Grayson County and Appalachian ballad singer Elizabeth Laprelle.
- July 22-25: Floydfest, Floyd, VA. VFP sponsors the “Virginia Folklife Porch” stage, featuring artists from the Crooked Road and workshops with musicians from across the nation, including the legendary Levon Helm.
- August 9-14: Galax Old Time Fiddlers Convention. The VFP will be on hand to greet artists and support the festival.
- September 4: Albert Hash Memorial Festival, Grayson County, Virginia. The VFP organized, funded, and will emcee this grassroots festival featuring the finest old time music from Southwest Virginia, in remembrance of fiddle maker and community leader Albert Hash.
- September 17-19: Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion. The “Virginia Folklife Stage” hosted by the VFP will feature some of the finest traditional artists from Virginia, including workshops with such bluegrass luminaries as Del McCoury and Doyle Lawson.
- October 8-10: Richmond Folk Festival. The Virginia Folklife Program will curate and host the Virginia Folklife Area, “Maritime to Mountain Time”, featuring traditional arts of the Virginia coal fields and seacoast.
